A draft housing law was presented on Wednesday 4 April 2018 in the Council of Ministers.
Several subjects were discussed on Wednesday concerning the allocation of HLM, sanctions against Airbnb and the “mobility lease”. During this presentation, the transparency of HLM allocation was requested, the reanimation of the situation of tenants every 6 years, and the sale of HLM which will lead to the creation of new social housing, but also the tracking down of sleep merchants. Concerning Airbnb, but also all similar rental platforms, the government will increase the price of fines for non-compliance with the rules. Finally, the government would like to set up a new rental contract: the “mobility lease”, which should facilitate access to housing for workers on temporary professional mobility (internships, training and trial periods) or for employees on fixed-term contracts.
